Soap Free Face Routine

Here’s a million dollar question : How do your wash your face… with NO soap?

Faced with skin stripping soaps and a pressing question, Triiinity was determined to solve the riddle. We already opted for mild soaps and natural/well sourced soaps but even those can be a overly stripping of the natural oils in delicate face skin. They were even beginning to cause Triiini small dry patches and we couldn’t have that. So thus began the journey to find a gentler, more natural face washing method. After lengthy research and experimentation, we came to a combination and established a face routine that I plan to keep for a while to come.

Tools Needed:

Bentonite Clay

Honey

Apple Cider Vinegar

Face Pads/ Cotton pads

Natural oil

 

What to do?

Step 1: Bring bentonite clay and honey into a viscous paste like mixture {you may use a bowl or just mix it in your hand. For this I like to use Garner’s Garden Bentonite Clay. More honey than bentonite clay will give you the best ratio of ingredients to allow for proper spreading}

Step 2: Open your facial pores using a hot towel

Step 3: Spread mixture all over your face, massaging as you spread & allow it to sit {2 to 5 minutes is more than sufficient, though if you decide to let it sit longer it won’t hurt}

Step 4: Rinse with warm water until face is fully free of substance.

Step 5: Use cotton face pad to apply apple cider vinegar to your face {this step closes your pores while adding the skin benefits of acv}

Step 6: Finish by applying a dime sized amount of natural oil to your face. {I use a homemade mixture of coconut oil, olive oil, & rosemary} . Let the oil soak in before applying any makeup.

In the past few months of doing this routine, I have seen such an increase in the quality & lusterous smoothness of my skin. It’s always glowing & it feels like I’ve snapped every pore into prime position! Now I might look like a monster every morning when I was my face, but the end result is well worth it.

Nudity empowers some. Modesty empowers some. Different things empower different women & it’s not your place to tell them which one it is. This is not just a cool saying people, it’s the TRUTH. Every women {and man} is in charge of their own body and it is up each person to do with it as they wish. It sickens me that people would go out of their way to report images they dont have to see, judge when they could just let be.

Rape culture tells us we have control over other peoples bodies. Rape culture tells us the less clothes someone is wearing, the less deserving of respect, but I’m here to show you that is not true. We are all deserving of bodily autonomy & we do not deserve to be shamed or suffer unjust penalty because of the choices we make.

Rape is not the penalty for nudity. Shame is not the penalty for exposed skin. It is my right, & her right, & his right to cover or expose my body as I choose. To shave or not shave. To wear makeup or not wear make up. To have sex or not have sex. To identify as whatever sexual orientation or gender I please. Or anything else you may not agree with. It is not your right to make anyone put on clothes, take them off, or make someone do anything they do not want to do. Nor is it in your control. When it comes to the body of another, your assumptions means nothing. Every being is worthy of respect. You dont have to understand or identify. But you must respect.

.New Moon • Death|Transfiguration.

Wearing my African bloodstone yoni egg as I embrace the energy of the new moon. She assists me, amplifying my power & establishing my vision as I set my intentions. The first new moon of the year is a powerful time for planting the seeds I desire to grow. I asked Spirit what energy I need to embrace to manifest the intentions I’ve set & this is the card I received. This card represents the end of things as previously known. Symbolizing death of the old self to pave the way for regeneration & enlightenment, it allows removal of fears by confrontation. It connotes change through transfiguration and the realization of new opportunities. There are some things that I’d been holding on to in the recesses of my mind, that the retrograde has returned to conscious thought. It can be frustrating coming face to face with emotions you’d only hoped you’d done away with for good. But it’s all a part of healing. And repressed is not the same thing as released. Dead leaves will only feed to no avail until the whole plant dies. And I’m trying to grow a garden. So tonight my job is to let go. I release what is dead. I die to be reborn. I trust the Universe to bring me the highest good. And it shall.

Can you believe its 2016?

Yesterday I pulled my first card of the new year and I’d love to share it with you guys. I have decided that I will pull a card a day, every day this year, come hell or high water. I find it to be a great way to practice my divination and get more & more in touch with my cards. I will attempt to share them with you all every day as well (via instagram or here on zee blog) but I’m asking in advance that you all bear with me. I will share as often as I can. In keeping with my new daily tarot plans, I also pulled a card for today. I will share both.

1|1|16 .{The Hot Seat}.

Yesterday I asked my deck about the energy of my 2016 & what Spirit wanted to communicate to be about the year. The answer? THE HOT SEAT. Synonymous with the {Emperor} card in the traditional tarot. This card bears the number 4 signifying the deeper self rooted in firm foundations & convictions, balance & the four pillars of the Universe. This card signifies power & great responsibility, for the “Hot Seat” is the seat of the master of the Universe. Any persons prepared to take this seat has achieved adequate work and is ready for the continued work & responsibility that awaits them. This card indicates a position of authority that has been bestowed that one must make themselves equal to. Great urgency is required as decisions must be made that require inner convictions and powers of leadership. This card foretells a way through to the realization of ambitions. Meditate on the correct channeling of energy through the higher will, transforming & blending the psyche.

1|2|2016 .{Island of Jewels}.

Today, I simply asked for the guidance in relation to the energy of the day. I used my crystal wand as a pendulum to amplify my natural magick in choosing a card. Spirit’s choice today? ISLAND OF JEWELS. Synonymous with the {Star} card in traditional tarot. This card bears the number •{17}• which combines the numbers •{1}• & •{7}• together to signify the inner light of spiritual attainment through an exalted path of occultism. The Island of Jewels is perceived as being outside of the influence of time. It represents the visualization of the ideal self. Comprised of all the celestial forces that influence the world, it is understood as being not bound to the world but above it as a pure transmitter & receiver of the celestial influences.

This is a highly auspicious card as it suggest the realization of hopes & aspirations achieved through the practice of visualization & opening of the inner spiritual eye.

Connoting inspiration, insight, & spiritual breakthrough, this card is one of optimism & success. Maintain faith in your higher self. This faith in the deepest aspirations of your heart and soul shall aid you in finding expression for these desires in this world that lay the foundations for realization & illumination in the next. Meditate on the limitless possibilities of the Spirit.

Soul Cleanse: Spiritual Baths

.{Spiritual Baths}.

Baths have long been revered for their sacred healing properties. Spiritual Baths are an ancient method of spiritual cleansing. These magical baths cleanse our auras & aid us in purging all the mental and spiritual dirt we may retain.

Spiritual baths are a powerful mystical remedy that utilizes the purfying power of steam along with herbs, essences, & spices to heal, restore, & rejuvenate us inside and out. While normal baths are taken to cleanse our bodies, these baths are taken with the specfic intention of removing unwanted energies & ridding oneself of negative vibrations. The purifying power of a spiritual bath an restore harmony & balance to your life.

A good spiritual bath may be the perfect way to end this year & bring in 2016 with a soul that’s fresh, clean, & ready for a new start.

There are many types of spiritual baths. My favorite {and one of the simplest to perform} is the vinegar bath.

 

 

 

 

Vinegar has long been used has an agent of protection & exorcism. It banishes evil, misfortune, negativity, illness, & even pesky germs. It’s pH balancing properties provide natural toning and conditioning to skin and hair. Adding it to your bath will provide body & soul benefits.

Step 1

Prepare Your Station.

Prepare any ingredients you will be using for your bath {in this case, it’s just vinegar, but other times it could be a combo of herbs, oils, etc.} If using herbs you will need to either pre-soak the herbs in hot water or prepare a bath tea bag for the herbs to sit contained in the tub, while the water takes on herbal essence.

Step 2

Cleanse Your Body.

Before partaking in any type of spiritual bath, you must first ensure that your temple is clean. Take a normal shower or bath previous to any spiritual bathing to rid yourself of any physical dirt.

Step 3

Prepare Your Bath.

Fill your tub with warm water. Add your ingredients. If using pre-soaked herbs strain your mixture to pour in the herb infused water. If using herbs in a bath tea bag/container, add these herbs now and let them soak for about 10 minutes before you get in. {If pre-soaked, you don’t have to wait any}. In the case of the vinegar bath, simply add 7 to 9 caps of vinegar to warm steamy bath water. Feel free to light candles or do anything else you’d like to set the ambiance for healing.

Step 4
Take your bath. Hop in and enjoy the warm water and steam filled with healing elements surrounding you. As you indulge in this peaceful experience, keep your intention stayed the spiritual cleansing/healing you seek. Trust the process to accomplish its purpose. Do not use soap or any additives in this bath. You may perform the motions of washing, using the infused bath water all while holding the intent in your heart that you are cleansing your soul. Remain in the bath for at least 15 minutes for maximum benefit.

Step 5

Air Dry.

Once you have exited the tub, Do Not dry with a towel. You may drape a robe around you or some other comfortable clothing if you wish, but allow your body to dry naturally.

Step 6

Enjoy & Let Simmer

Enjoy the soul lifting effects of your bath. It is best to wait 12 to 24 hours before your next bath.

Again vinegar baths are my favorite, as they are easy & effective. But I looovvveee herbal magical baths for spirit as well. Depending on the combination of herbs there is so much variant magical soul work that can be accomplished with a spiritual bath.

Happy Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice Gods & Goddesses!

{Winter Solstice: The shortest day of the year & the dawn of the Winter season. Winter is a season of introspection. This day carries with it powers of regeneration, renewal, & self-reflection. Said to be the day when “the Moon births the Sun”.}

Love & light on this glorious Solstice. I hope you spiiirits have been amply enjoying it thus far. Triiini & I have definitely been embracing this day and the new energy & power of this season. We had sacred tea time, sacral dancing,  a ritual appreciation ceremony, & letter burning.

The Sacred Art of Letter Burning

.{The Sacred Art of Letter Burning}.

Fire is a sacred and holy element. It has the ability to purify as well as solidify intention in the spiritual and physical plane.

I once used fire in a purging ceremony, where we burned up words/cards/representations of things we were purifying from our life for good and would have no more of. It was a very impactful, cleansing ceremony. One that I’d say I am still feeling the positive effects of today. However that is not use of fire I will speak about today.

This fire is set with a whole ‘nother intention. The intention to communicate your thoughts and desires concretely and directly to your higher self, your spiritual guides and the cosmos.

Letter burning is a direct path of communication with your spirit guides that is not obstructed by the mixed messages of muddled thoughts.

Letter burning is a spiritual task I have commenced numerous times, and each time, no matter what, the communications I send out are answered and the desired expressed are granted.

Here’s my step by step guide to Letter Burning:

Step 1:

PREPARE YOUR LETTER.

Genuinely contemplate the message you want to send to Spirit. You may brainstorm and write down bullet points first or even pre-write the whole letter using a phone, laptop or some other technical device. However there is a certain energy that hand-written communications carry that I find to be powerful in this practice. In this preparatory period, is important to ponder things you are grateful for as well as things you desire. Once you have the basics of what you want to communicate clearly outlined in your mind, you are ready for the next step.

Step 2:

WRITE YOUR LETTER.

Now is time to put pen to paper. Begin this process wherever you feel most comfortable doing so. I find it calming to burn incense or herbs such as sage or mugwort to bring peace and clarity to the space where you are now preparing to open your soul to the Universe. Open your letter in a spirit of gratitude and thankfulness. Show genuine respect and appreciation for all that you do have, before asking for more. As you begin to delve into your desires use positive verbage. Don’t harp on about what you don’t like and what you don’t want. Focus on what you do. Be as specific as you possibly can in your goals/desires without limiting the cosmos. This is to say that in our human forms, we have no way of knowing all of the possible outcomes of any give situation. Who is to say that what we have envisioned is the best? I like to ask for what I want very specifically in faith that I will receive it, while coupling it with a request that Spirit grant me the highest good/highest possible outcome in the area of my concern. Pretty much to say “Spirit please grant me this or better”. Only Spirit would know if there is something better for us than what our desire may be. And we wouldn’t want to close ourselves off from that possibility either. We must find balance in being specific in our desires while trusting that the Universe knows exactly how best to deliver what we want and need. End your letter with an attitude of gratitude as well.

*sidenote: your letter does not have to be a certain length either. It could be a 4 page letter or a paragraph. Nor do you need to have some massive desire to be attained. Some people even write letters requesting things as simple as their car keys to be manifest/found (hey it works!). Just as long as you feel like your message is clearly communicated to Spirit.

Step 3:

BURN YOUR LETTER.

First things first bring your letter to a place that is safe for burning. You need a safe, controlled fire source, a place where smoke can breath, and something to catch the ashes. In my personal practice I have burned letters over a large pot as well as over a grill.I almost always use a lighter or a match for my safe controlled fire source. Don’t be afraid. This should not become anything close to an uncontrollable blaze. But safety is key anytime we are dealing with fire. Make sure the entirety of your letter is burned to ash. That the fire as touch all parts of your words. Through this powerful elemental process, your words are being carried to the spirit realm. Let the ashes amply cool before disposing of them.

Step 4:

HAVE FAITH & WAIT TO RECEIVE.

As you have communicated your intentions into the cosmos, trust that it has truly heard your expression. Trust that the Universe is conspiring to grant you good…the highest good. And remain confident in this fact as you await its response. Do not become stagnant, of course. Continue to do what you can to move forward toward your goals and do not let fear creep in. The Universe is ready and willing to answer your plea. You can have what you desire!

*If you follow all these steps and for some reason your desire does not come to pass, trust that the Universe has made the choice for your highest good. Something even better for you than what you expected is coming your way. Stay open to receive it!

Goddess Rising Facial Appreciation

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know Triiinity & I are in the midst of our Goddess Rising Yoga Challenge! It’s been a blast growing in love & light with my fellow Goddesses and I know we shall continue to grow and ascend in positivity and self-love together. For Day 10 of the challenge, our self-loving task was to give yourself a facial. So I wanted to share my facial process with you all.

Ingredients :
Urban Oreganics Facial Mask (100% vegan)
Honey
Instant Coffee
Water

SN: Did you know honey & coffee are both naturally occurring substances that are good for your skin? Coffee has anti-aging properties as it tightens and tones the skin while mutually stimulating the skin, bringing increased circulation. Honey is humectant, so it is perfect for bringing natural moisturization. It also has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal properties that are perfect for fighting acne. You can mix these ingredients without the use of a store bought facial mask or in addition to one and follow the steps below for amazing skin benefits!

Step 1: Mix Ingredients
{stir until mixture becomes a fine paste}

Step 2: Apply Mixture
{It is best to do this while laying down, over a towel to avoid any drippy carnage. Feel free to use your hands for application but I found this application best done with a utensil liken to a Popsicle stick shape. So a mixing stick or even the flat side of a butter knife would work fine to apply the proper spreading. I like it best when I apply a coating, let it dry for a minute or two, and then go back and apply another for a nice thick facial layer.}

Step 3: Wear Facial
{Relax and let the properties take hold. I recommend you let the mixture sit on your face for about 15-20 minutes before rinsing, for maximum benefits.}

Step 4: Rinse

{Rinse mixture away with warm water. Then rinse with cool to lock the amazing effects into your pores}

{Seal your skin with a light moisturizer. Enjoy the glowing effects of your after-facial radiance!}
