As the warmer seasons of the year kick into full swing, fashion begins to reflect the seasonal shift in the myriad of colors that make themselves visible in trends & style.
Now as we have already noticed, neon-pastels (seems like an oxymoron, but oddly enough it’s not..lol) have made a heavy appearance in the Spring/Summer 2014 trendscape. This color trend has permeated everything, from nail polish, to accessories, to lipstick you name it. Hair, is no exception. This new obsession with neon-pastels has brought on a the mass desire for mermaid hair!
No matter what race, color, or creed, hair texture, or style, many are dying their hair beautiful bright pastel colors like coral, seafoam green, teal, and lavender.
Some opt for ombre, doing darkest shade to lightest shade (roots to end). Others distinctly highlight their strands a brilliant trifecta of neon-pastel shades. And some opt for all over, one color, neon-pastel strands. No matter the method, the result is quite vibrant & very reminiscent of the our images of sexy mer-people. And I love it!
I don’t have the balls to dye my entire head of hair (for the hair health issues color poses), but I do plan to dye Delilah (my loc) purple on the tip one of these days. Does that count…?? Haha.
What do you guys think of the trend? Would you die your hair in this mermaid fashion?
Let me know!

This past weekend two wonderful gifts made their way into our home…
OUR CROOKLYN’S FINEST TEES!!!!
Blessings from theOhiogirl, got me feelin’ major like Biggie. A crop tank & a tee. ^_^
These HalfBrooklyn tees are super dope and I love them already! They are good quality, efficiently priced shirts. I love the additional softness of the crop tank.
Free Spiiirit is gonna customize the t-shirt so be on the lookout for that! Oh, btw! Speaking of customization…do you guys have any ideas for how you want to see this shirt customized??? We’re thinking a little fringe & distress, hippie-grunge style, but we are open to suggestions! What do you guys think?
(If you’d like to purchase a “Crooklyn’s Finest” tee direct all inquiries to HalfBrooklyn@gmail.com)

I don’t think anyone knows just how much I love the Hunger Games. I love the trilogy so much that, before there was even word of a first movie, my sister and I bought two Hunger Games shirts (mine says “Down with the Capitol” tehe) , a mockingjay pin, and a mockingjay necklace, between us. When the first movie came out, I went (suited in my HG gear and all) to see it immediately. Epic trilogy, man. Awesome societal parallels. & anyone who really knows me, knows of my deep love for dystopian fiction…
That’s why it’s really killing me that I can’t go see Catching Fire tonight. That’s right, Hunger Games Fan #1 is in for the night and stuck NOT watching the much awaited second movie, which made it’s way into theaters on this beloved day. BOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
However, I am not one to dwell on the bad, so on a more positive note… Did you guys see what Jennifer Lawrence wore to the premiere earlier this week???
Oh yes, little Miss Everdeen was quite the “Girl on Fire” on the red carpet in her Christian Dior 2013 Haute Couture Gown. I think she really rocked this look. It was daring, sexy, and classy all at the same time. And her new blonde pixie cut + red lip combo was the cherry on top! Check it out…talk about dressed to kill.
What do you guys think of Jennifer Lawrence’s premiere look?

Today I am doing a sort of hybrid of Menswear Monday & Trendspotting Tuesday by bringing a growingly male-centered trend to the spotlight.
It seems 2013 is the year of the bling for men. More and more, male bling and accessories are becoming more common place in the “swaggy” male’s wardrobe. In full embrace of this trend, the studded hat is starting to rear its head in men’s fashion. Justin Bieber was spotted rocking one the other day.
The Biebs is not the only one. I have seen many men on my Instagram feed, rockin’ their studded hats, as well as a number of other male celebs. It seems as though this is the new way of jazzing up your snapback and taking urban style to another level.
I personally am not against the studded hat for men, though not particularly a fan. Some men are really able to pull them off nicely while others look a little loud and overzealous in their attempts at head-bling style. Again I don’t think they are the worst thing ever and some pull them off quite well, but I have seen some hat designs that take it too far and straight into the lane of gaudiness.
How do you guys feel about bling for men & the studded hat trend in particular? Is it totally FAB? Or a total FAIL?

Orange lipstick is hot, Hot, HOT for the summer.
Check out a couple of celebs that have taken to rocking the trendy color…
Now orange is a color that can easily look tacky and loud if done incorrectly. However, it can look great on any skin tone, if you pick the right shade for you.
A Couple Tips on Finding the Correct Shade
Light Skin: Choose a very true-to-orange shade, it’ll pop against your bright skin
Medium Skin: Choose an orange with golden undertones, it’ll accentuate your skin and give it warmth without bronzer
Dark Skin: Choose darker oranges with more brown to brick undertones, it will be less harsh on your tone while giving you the poppy look you desire
For all shades: Always opt for liner whenever possible, its the secret to long-lasting and defined lips in any lipshade. (You can buy a beauty supply lipstick and make it look like a million bucks with liner, Trust Me.) Also if you can’t find your exact shade in the stores, don’t be afraid to mix colors and liners until you do!
The right orange lip gives you a fun look and a warm summer glow. And with these tips & tricks in your arsenal there is no need to fear getting it wrong. Go forth & get funky in orange!

Sooooo sneaker wedges….I’ve been seeing a good bit of these. Not enough to call it a trend just yet, but enough to take note. I’m not quite sure to feel about them just yet but they must be noted. I’ve seen a few cute pairs, usually they are the ones that come in a print or with spikes. Plus I’ve seen a couple of celebs (including Nicole Scherzinger) rockin’ em but I just haven’t quite latched on to the sneaker wedges movement yet. Something makes me think of a more burgoueis version of the “Jordan heel” posted on people’s walls by fake facebook pages. Maybe its because I’m not the biggest sneaker girl, idk, but like I said I can’t make heads or tails of this one yet.
What do you guys think? Fab or Fail?
This….is the face of an A.
This is from Wednesday (I know, long layover time, but what can I say, I’ve been SO busy!). On Wednesday I had a presentation for my Media Criticism class and I chose to do it over an analysis of Mean Girls from the Visual Perspective. I was sooooo nervous about it, you guys have no idea. Plus,to add more stress, I had just finished preparing my presentation that morning! But I confidently presented my work and, all glory to God, I got a 25/25! I was so happy. At any rate I wish I could show you guys my entire presentation look. I was quite cute if I do say so myself! But sadly I didn’t have time to get someone to take a full picture of me before I had to go off to work. I did get some makeup shots, though. Hope you guys like!

Hola Blog Dolls! I’ve missed you!
I’ve been so swamped with work, school work, personal struggles, the whole 9…plus its the end of the semester so you know what that means. Finals and cramming.
But through it all I’m here to make a little time for you guys…thats how much I love ya! *muah*
Last night I watch the annual Victoria Secret Fashion Show on CBS and its was, as usual, a pleasure to the eyes. Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Bruno Mars took the stage as the night’s performers, while numerous “angels”, such as Adriana Lima and Miranda Kerr, ripped the runway in fun and exquisite VS Fashions. Rihanna even gave us a little modeling herself, Tyra Banks style.
If you missed the show, here are a couple of photographic highlights below…
There were many, many more looks and fabulous moments, too much for one blog post to hold! However, I hope this post gave you an idea of the VS luxury that graced the runway last night.
What was your favorite look of the night? How did you like the performers style choices?

Burgundy, Wine, Blood Red, Oxblood, its all the same and its all trending right NOW.
Burgundy is a huge trend for fall and will continue to be a mainstay for fashionistas all throughout the winter. This is not really the newest of new developments, I’ve been meaning to blog about it for quite some time but I kept getting sidetracked from the topic for some reason (oopsie me!). However, it is still just as relevant. I don’t see burgundy leaving the fashion scene for quite some times, especially during these colder months.
Check out celebs like Kim Kardashian & Nicole Kidman sporting the trend!
Incorporate a little burgundy via lipstick or nail polish, or a lot of it with a cool top or dress. I usually like to wear burgundy lipstick to add a little punch to any outfit. However you choose to rock this rich color, it’ll be hot hot, hot!
What do you guys think of the burgundy trend?
There are few fashion mavens more style savvy than this badass girl. Rihanna style is eclectic, edgy, and exciting. She always keeps her look fresh and up to date and she is a definite trendsetter. She does and wears what she wants, when SHE wants. Her Unapologetic style is always sure to turn heads & with her 7th album, by the same name, coming out on Monday….it’s time we take notice.
I’ve have never seen somebody that looks so good in EVERYTHING! No matter what hair, or style of clothes she wears she just exudes badassery in a way thats alllllll girl power. Keep rockin’ it Rih Rih, can’t wait to hear your new album!
Do you guys just ADORE her style like I do?
