Twenty One : The Birthday Post

As many of you may know, I just made 21 this past weekend. I am still reeling with excitement from all the festivities! ^_^ . On Friday I got my nails and toes done and went to dinner with my family. On Saturday (my actual b-day), I had an early dinner with my family and got to see a couple friends who came from out of town to visit me for the occasion. When I got home my lovely roommate had hung streamers from my door and had a bottle waiting for me. Later that night, my lovely and very awesome friends surprised me with a surprise party for my birthday!!! It was a glow-in-the-dark/blacklight party and it was sooooo much fun!! I also received many gifts with include but are not limited to, bottles of wine and liquor, the Hunger Games DVD, and my very own blacklight!!!!!! The next day my friends and I hung out and went on an excursion to a little place called Dago’s and shared quite the bonding experience. I just want to share my bday experience with you all as only photos can so….here goes!

On TheUp and up: Review of TheUp

My longtime friend Jalisa-Jasmin has recently launched an online clothing store called TheUp, that features remastered vintage items that showcase her unique personal flair for fashion. Many of the pieces she features are stylish and affordable on any budget. Whether you are looking for pieces to rock in a business setting or for a lunch date with your girls, she has something represented here for you. There are even some repurposed designer pieces in her repertoire. Since this site was recently launched, you can expect that the selection and item versatility will increase from here.

**Sidenote**: Inspired by the research I did for my upcycling post, I will be launching a similar site in January 2013, so be on the lookout for that!

A Belated OOTN

Okay, Confessions of a Fashion Blogger: I’m really doing this post for no fashionable reason at all, but simply because I miss my little sister, Janae’a. She came out to visit me last week and its safe to say that I’m slightly saddened by her current absence :/.

However…

I know that you guys don’t care to hear me whining like a big baby soooo

I will get on to something fashion related….my outfit!

My sister and I were headed out to party with a group of my friends. Before I get into my outfit though, I must explain to you all the massive halo of hair atop my head. I had blown my hair out earlier that day in hopes to straighten it, but for a number of reasons I never got around to it. I had no clue what to do with my hair so I said what the heck, ill just be free and rock my big, crazy hair in all it blowdried glory!

Ok…now the outfit…forreal this time…

Patterned Top: Gift

Tank: Walmart-$6.99

Skirt: F21-$8.80

Camel Wedges: Payless – Gift

Juicy Couture Bag (not in the photos) : Juicycouture.com $169 (i got it on sale!)

I dressed my sister for the night as well and did her makeup! She is wearing…

Dress: F21-$19.80

Levi Strauss Jean Vest: mom

Black Oxfords: Thrifted-$1.25

Until Next Time!

OOTD: Dabbling in Aztec

Today was a blazin’ hot day in the southern United States. I spent the majority of it inside filing papers and preparing for final exams (session 1 is almost over, yippeee!!). This is how I faired the weather today..

Gold Hoops: Beauty Supply – $2

Gray Tank: Old Navy – $9

Jean Shirt: Walmart – $10

Belt: Forever 21 – $8.80

Aztec Skirt: Forever 21

Sandals: Don’t remember – $9

The jean shirt was worn in the cold offices and classrooms that i spent much of my time in today. Outdoors, the jean element came straight off, otherwise i’d risk a heat stroke. This outfit is centered around the skirt. A touch of aztec never hurt anyone! &if you glance at this little aztec number, you’ll see I got a little mint in there too…trend bonus!

Until Next Time!

OOTN: Cobalt, Black, & Kickback

Hola chicas (and chicos if your reading, shoutout to you) ! I’m here with an Outfit of the Night for you guys. It was yesterday, June 8th and I guess I was in a really striped-mood yesterday (given what i was wearing earlier that day). The occasion was a kickback/house party of sorts, for a friend of mines birthday. I wanted to look spruced up, but not overly dressy or clubby to be just sitting in someone’s house. So this is what I chose…

ImageImageImageImageImage

Striped Dress (worn as a top): Forever 21 – $19.80

Chain Necklace: Forever 21 – $7.80

Ring: Forever 21 – $6.80

Belt: Forever 21 – $8.80

Bubble Skirt: Forever 21 – $11.80

Sandals: Don’t remember – $9

Purse: Charlotte Russe – $9

(whoa, just realized exactly how much of this outfit came from forever 21, yowzers!)

This look could have been made more downtown-club scene ready by adding heels, wearing the strapless top as the dress it really is, or wearing a bold lip. However, for the type of event I was attending, I feel like this combination was just right.

What do you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Let me know in the comments below.

Until Next Time!
