OOTD: Updo’s & Thrifted Pleasantries

An Outfit of the Day from a couple days ago…

Actually, it was last Thursday, which was an awesome day for a lot of reasons. It was my last day of Summer session I, my mommie and grammie came out to visit me, and they packed me down with a house full of groceries. I also got a job on Thursday for which I had to go in and do paperwork. As I watch my days’ progressions, it just amazing to see how many blessings God lays in my path. Can’t be anything but thankful.

gold studs – F21, gold charm necklace – SB, shirt – Free Spiiirit Vintage, cobalt pants – Thrifted, seahorse ring – Glitter, bicycle ring – SB, belt – Thrifted, camel oxfords – Thrifted

Every piece of this outfit (minus the studs & rings) was thrifted at some point. Even the necklace, which was borrowed, is a vintage gold piece that was picked up in a thrift store. Ahh, I love my thrifty days. They give life to my inner frugal fashionista! The updo was a quick, easy twist on a simple hairstyle. If you guys want a tutorial, just let me know.

Mixing Metals

A couple weeks ago, I did a post on Gold vs. Silver. However, you don’t have to choose! You can wear both at “the same d*mn time” *2chains voice*. Let me give you guys a couple of quick tips for how to do it, and pictures for inspiration….Leggoo!!

Tip #1

Buy pieces already mixed…

Why not let the designers do the work for you and buy pieces that already have gold, silver, copper, or whatever your metallic combo choice already pre-mixed?? It takes a lot of the thought process off your back, while ensuring your success as a metal mixing connoisseur!

Tip #2

Use rings to mix it up…

Rings are a simple, no fuss way to mix a variety of metals into one outfit with out looking forced or tacky. Put on three or four of ’em in a variety of metal shades for a look that adds a sprinkle of edge to any outfit.

Tip #3

Layer, layer, layer…

Bangles, necklaces, whatever, layer them up with varying metals! It can give the allusion of a cohesive mixed piece of jewelry and this method allows you to choose what metals you want to mix versus it being dictated for you by an already mixed piece.

Now be inspired by a couple of photographs…

The tips I gave are just a few easy ways to incorporate a little edge in your outfit via metal mixing, however there are many other ways! Ultimately just do what looks and feels right. Trust your fashion instincts!

Head to Head: Gold vs. Silver

Hola fellow fashion lovers!

Now as we all know, whether you’re minimalistic or a curator of bling, accessories are a cardinal part to every look. Any fashion-wise girl would of course pick which ever accessories compliment her outfit best, however as humans we all have something we are more partial to.

When it comes to our metallic enhancers, gold and silver battle it out for the affection of fashion lovers everywhere! For me, it is no competition. I like silver, but I LOVE gold….like simply adore it. It, in my opinion, best compliments my skin tone and adds a sunny, almost regal flair to most any outfit.
