New Name, New Layout, New Attitude

The title says it all…its time to make all things, new.

namechange

This blog needed a makeover. It was just about that time.  Plus I finally encountered a layout that embodied my vision for this blog. Had to jump on that STAT of course. As for the name AND url change of the site, I know that is a MAJOR change and my precious followers are probably all agast. But I want you guys to know I would never make such a major decision in rash hastiness.

My birth name is Jasmine but in becoming a new and more developed person (spiritually, physically, and emotionally) I chose a new name. Rather, it chose me.

Amiri from the Hebrew, Tafari from Ethiopian origin.

Three i’s for the pineal gland.

Through an extensive and beautiful process I was donned this name by my best friend Phili (who is now also known as Triiinity Tafari). Both of these names have deeper meaning and embody what we have become.

I wanted this blog to continue to be about fashion, Yes. But I also wanted to expand it to be able to share myself with you guys as a whole.

Personal journeys aside, all my other social media has the name AmiiiriTafari and that is the name I use for PR & Advertising in relation to my business, Free Spiiirit, as well. So for marketability purposes and the like…it just all made sense.

So I apologize and I hope no one is scorned but TheFashionerrd is no more. AmiiiriTafari has been born.

Please continue to support this blog as it will only be taking off to new and better heights from here!

Namaste, good people.

Affordable Gift Ideas (For Him & Her!)

Hola guys, Christmas is around the corner!

& by around the corner, I mean a mere 6 days from now….

For Him

Electronic Cases

ntc

Does he have the new Iphone 5? Or a cell phone of any sort, they all need cases these days. So do other electronics like tablets, ipads, blaz-e blaz-e BLAH. Purchase a case for his favorite electronic that has something important to him in the design. For instance if his favorite superheros are the Ninja Turtles, get him a Ninja Turtle phone case. If he loves baseball, get him one with something referencing that on it. You get the picture. He’ll love it. The case above is for an Iphone 5. It can be found here and costs $17.16.

A Stylish Tie

tie2

Every man needs a tie. A business, dressy, or serious occasion is bound to surface at some point. And for men, a tie is like the right lip color to us women. It adds just that pop they need to make their look stand out. The paisley bow tie above is from Express and costs $23.94. I’m a little partial to bow ties, but if the guy you’re buying for is not, Express.com has a plethora of other ties to choose from in the same price range.

Game Accessories

ps3hs

What kind of accessories does a man like, you ask? Generally ones for his gaming devices. Cater to his inner child and buy him a new controller (they can never have too many of those) or a gaming headset. The headset above is a PS3 bluetooth headset, meaning he can move around in tandum with all his gaming emotions, and it only cost $29.99. It can be found here and I have found controllers as cheap as $5 on Amazon.com! WARNING: make sure you know what gaming console he uses (Playstation, XBOX, etc.) before you make this purchase. These pieces are not interchangable across consoles!

For Her

Coastal Scents Original 88 Palette

gift1

This palette is to die for. Trust me, I own it.  It comes with so many colors and they are all super pigmented, a  must for any avid eyeshadow wearer. And best of all this palette is only $10.42. Almost half off from the usual price of  18.95. This can be purchased from Coastal Scents here.

Jewelry Organizers

gift2

This earring holder and many other cool styles and shapes of jewelry organizers can be found here. Price ranges and styles vary, but many of the cuter ones are quite affordable. This “LOVE” earring holder is only $30.00 and features 66 places to hang jewelry along with a saucer at the bottom that can hold rings and/or bracelets. PS: Shipping is free 🙂

Quality Perfume

gift3

I’ll say it again, who doesn’t like to smell good? Every girl does for sure and you can almost never go wrong with a quality fragrance. This gift set comes with 3 different Marc Jacobs roll-on perfumes and comes in a cute reusable foil case. Roll-ons are really easy to travel with and the gift recipient is bound to like at least one of these scents. Best of all, it won’t break the bank. Get this gift set trio for only $38.00 here.

Hopefully I’ve aided in you guys Christmas shopping endeavors. Good luck on your journey, GODSPEED. lol

Finally Finished & LookSoup

Who’s finally finished with finals?!?! Me! Hell yeah! lol….No but really though, I’m super excited. I finished with all my finals on Thursday and I’ve just been relaxing and living it up since then. The storm is OVER!! Definitely something to be grateful for. Not to mention I’m one more step closer to graduating. Just one semester left, now. Exciting!

But at any rate, I’ve discovered this site called LookSoup…they actually emailed me and asked me to put my blog on the site, so I thought that was pretty cool. Its set up like Pinterest, but it’s kind of like a Pinterest for bloggers. You can “like” looks or “collect” them to your own various groups of collections. You can also follow others and others can follow you. And best of all, because its for fashion bloggers, its all about fashion, hair, beauty, etc. A fashion bloggers dream! Plus, you are given a LookSoup score to gauge your influence. The score is the sum of all the likes and collects you’ve gained from things you posted on the site. The number of followers you gain also increases your score.

If you a fashion blogger or someone who just loves fashion, I’d give the site a look-see.

Raving Saturday

Hello my dears!

On Saturday I had my very 1st rave experience thanks to my best friend Philly :). We went to a rave club called Kryptonite and had tons of fun. Everyone was extremely nice and social, I even got painted! The whole evening was tons of fun and something I would definitely do again.

Philly gave me a little guidance on the look I should go for to be ‘rave appropriate’  and I’d like to share the outcome with you guys. Its a little hard to see our outfits in most of these shots ( we were a little too focused on having fun to take better pictures, sorry :/) but hopefully you see enough of our makeup and clothing to get a general idea of the look….ENJOY!

Check out the glow paint, GAHHH i love it!

My Outfit

Black Corset – Philly’s

Black Tights

Black Over-The-Knee Boots – Payless

Spiked Collar – borrowed

My Hair

Stretched Out Fro

(from old shrunken twist out that had been previously ponytailed)

My Makeup

Eyebrows – NYC Eyebrow Pencil in Midnight Brown

Concealer – NYC in 786 light (used to define brows and as a primer)

Eyeshadow – Coastal Scents 88 Palette (3 different purples and 1 gray, 1 white, 1 black)

Eyeliner- NYC Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Mascara – NYC Instant Lash in Black

Lipliner – NYC Eyebrow Pencil in Midnight Brown

Lipstick – NK Black Orchid 302

Philly’s green eyeshadow also comes from the Coastal Scents 88 palette, but her makeup is a combination of that and her own eyeshadows, lipstick, lip pencils, etc, etc…you get the picture. (I wish I could tell you everything she used, but I cannot, I apologize). But i can tell you, she got that wonderful deep berry lipshade by using a black eyeliner pencil and her burgundy lipshade on top. Creativity for the WIN!

What do you guys think of our rave looks? Tell me the kind of stuff you’d wear to a rave!

Until Next Time

Menswear Mondays : Costume Ideas for Men

Hola all, Halloween is drawing near!

And I realized that I had given some options to my ladies as far as costumes they could put together from their closest, use a little DIY to make, or cheaply buy, however I offered no recourse for my guys! I apologize my dears, and I am here to fix the situation.

Here are a couple of last minute ideas for costumes you guys can be that won’t break the bank…

The Hobo

This little man did it best! This costume is easy an inventive. Wear a flannel shirt and some ripped jeans, add a little dirt effect for flair, get a styrofoam cup or cardboard sign and put a funny “will work for…” type statement on it and its one and done. Don’t forget your beard! Which can be drawn on or fake hair fuzzies glued on. Your perrogative!

The Zombie

Just like with the girl version, you can wear regular clothes and bloody-fy them. All you need to do is maybe put in some creepy contacts and add a little undead like makeup and you’re good to go.

Clark Kent

Superman! Dun dun dunnnnn!!! Well, not quite…but a much easier way to achieve an even cooler costume. All you need here is a suit and some “nerd glasses” (an easy way to get these is to pop the lenses out of the ones given for 3D movies…perfection). Open up the suit slightly to reveal a shirt with a superman logo on it, just so everyone knows you’re a superhero in disguise. You can easily buy a cheap superman shirt or make your own from a basic tee and an iron on.

The Fireman

Probably one of the easiest to achieve. Especially if you’ve got a nice bod. Boots, pants, suspenders, oiled torso, and a fire hat. One and done.

And there it is! Hopefully I have inspired some good, quick, and easy last minute costume ideas for my men out there. Stay tuned for more men-friendly fashion & advice next week!

Until Next Time
