Surviving a World of Frustration

frustrationsblogAT

Today…I feel inspired to write because I desire to vent.
We live in a frustrated world. The reasons for this are many, but one of which is lack of emotional control. Another is ill communication. Those are the two issues I will focus on today.
The secret to contentment lies in control over the emotions. This does not mean to stifle ones emotions. It’s actually quite to the contrary. But it is to consciously acknowledge your emotions, fully understand the emotion (and it’s true source) and reflect before you react. This is how people who have attained true balance & peace handle situations.
However, living in such a world of imbalance, many of us are not trained to handle our emotions in this manner. Rather we have been trained to lean to two of either extremes; hide our emotions entirely or hyper-emotionally overreact.
The issue with these two methods of dealing with emotions is that they bring more problems than resolve. Many conceal their emotions (most times poorly, at that) but at the same time expect the party they have been affected by to know how they are feeling. And more so, expect the party to be sensitive to their emotional state. Well this is certainly absurd. Most people will not know exactly what you are feeling unless you tell them. Holding it in is unhealthy and counterproductive because this negative emotion, gone unchecked, will only manifest again either at a later time, or in other ways.
The hyper-emotional response is no better. It is acting immediately on a myriad of emotions before even giving yourself a chance to process what you are actually feeling. During the hyper-emotional response a person likely acts immediately to show they have been affected by an action, however this is highly deceptive. The reason for this is because this heightened, rapid emotional response generally does not give a true read. Usually, in such cases, the emotional response is over-dramatized and may be a masking emotion to hide the true root emotion that this situation triggered a response to. Sometimes, during this type of response, the person becomes angry or sad (and acts on said emotion) before even giving themselves a moment to analyze if this moment is really worth that response. Many times these responses are a cry for attention to a certain underlying issue. However this is of no help, because this person still wants the other party to know exactly how they are feeling and be sensitive to that…even though they have not expressed (or even analyzed for themselves, sometimes) their true emotional state or the true reason for it.
So we can see that, though these are two very different methods for dealing with situations that garner an emotional response, they both have the same fatal flaw. Ill Communication. WE DO NOT COMMUNICATE!!! We assume, we hide, we do anything to run from our genuine emotions. Never truly dealing with them or allowing for resolve from any other involved parties. But you can’t hide forever. Not happily, anyway. Rather than letting the shit hit the fan, we can open up the tunnels of communication. Analyze how you truly feel & why before you react (this may take a few seconds, minutes, hours…the timing is totally up to you & how good you become at quickly analyzing the root of your emotions). Once you have done this, you can determine if the situation is needing of a response at all. Are you really angry with this situation or just having a bad day? Now once you have determined the true root of the emotional disturbance you can communicate that to the other involved party. True communication is a two way street. Meaning that when you are communicating your feelings, reasoning, and desires to another party you must also be an effective listener. They will have reasoning, feelings, and desires of their own that they want to be heard. These things need to be communicated and received from both (or all) parties. You don’t have to ultimately agree with the persons perspective but you do have to open your eyes & ears to really, truly gain insight on the other persons perspective to make a genuine analysis of the situation. At this point, a middle ground of peace can be attained.
Peace & patience opens up the ability to have this sort of natural, effective, flowing communication. That is why meditation is such a powerful tool. When you are centered and at peace within yourself, occurrences outside of yourself will not even get the same negative emotional rise out of you! But even when they do, you will be able to quickly process and analyze your emotions and it’s true root and effectively communicate that. Also, with this self provided peace, you will have to patience to listen and really absorb the perspective of any other involved party. And that is when true progress can begin.
PEACE to ALL

Connected & Inspired: Superior Life Energy

sleblog

Hello & Good Day Free Spiiirits of the World.

How are you all on this lovely day?..Well it’s a beautiful day, today in SoCal. One of the few beautiful days I have had completely free for a while (for a number of reasons). With the birds chirping, the breeze blowing, and the sun high in the sky, a wave of inspiration has come over me and prompted me to write. So, here I am 🙂

Okay sooooo, raise your hands if you like crystals!

*raises hand*

If you don’t like ’em, ya truly don’t know what your missing. Do a little research and you’ll find that crystals have many physical & metaphysical properties that can be of benefit to your body, mind, and soul.

Its been a little over a month since I received two very special crystal pieces from Superior Life Energy and it’s time I gave them a full review.

The Pyramid of Contemplation & The Pendant of Creativity

The Pyramid of Contemplation: This piece is an exquisite Orgone pyramid who’s shape and contents provide much spiritual power. The pyramid boasts a combination of Agate, Green Aventurine, Blue Aventurine, Mookaite Jasper, Seashells, and Reiki Seeds. Superior Life Energy owner, LaQuan Williams named this piece for the very relaxing state that it induced when he would stare into it. In my experience with this piece, it seems to be a powerful connector to the spiritual realm. Before receiving the pyramid, I was having trouble with my dream recall. I am usually quite a dreamer and quite strong with dream recall but I had a short stint (maybe 2 months) of time where I had to go without fluoride-free toothpaste. (Thank God that’s over!) I think the temporarily increased fluoride consumption had some negative affects which manifested in my dream-life. After receiving the Pyramid, the second night I slept with it near my bed, I had an extremely powerful dream, the full contents of which I remembered impeccably the next morning. In this dream, I met an alien who is more than likely one of my spirit guides. The time spent with the alien spirit guide was such a beautiful experience and I could truly feel the all-encompassing love of God radiating from the being. I was very interested to find later, in my research of this Orgone pyramid’s contents, that the spiritual energy of Blue Aventurine helps to attune you to guidance from higher realms and begin to perceive your spiritual gifts. And Mookaite Jasper, can help connect one with ancestor spirits to give intuitive understanding. Coincidence? I think not. About 3 weeks passed and I also had a lucid dream in which not only did I have a conscious memory of another (previous) dream, realize I was dreaming at present (with one of the manifestations of my sub-conscious literally saying it), but I maintained control long enough to turn a door knob and open a door within the dream before waking up. The Pyramid of Contemplation not only restored my dream recall but amplified my dream abilities, thereby my dream experiences.

Lucy, The Pendant of Creativity: Lucy, gets her name from me. She contains Amethyst, Red Jasper, Carnelian, and Hematite I did my darnedest not to look up anything about her before I wore her. I truly wanted to see how she made me feel without any previous bias from the research and then see how that measured up with the benefits each component was supposed to provide. ( I try to make a habit of that. It provides the most true results.) I wore her out into life one day. Actually it was the first time Triiin & I visited Santee Alley. Halfway throughout the day as I was getting a feel for my pendant I realized I had been making musical beats in my head all day, writing, and being constantly inspired. Not that these aren’t things that I normally do, but i seemed to happening at an increased level. Whether it was musical ideas or ideas for Free Spiiirit or whatever bright idea came next, inspiration kept coming. I told Triiin decidedly “You know what, I feel more creative today. Yes…creative, is the feeling.” After researching, I found that Carnelian (which is actually the largest crystal component present in the pendant) stimulates creativity. From then on I decided that, for me, this would be the Pendant of Creativity. I named her Lucy after well….Lucy…and all the realms of possibility and inspiration that usually comes to one on a Lucy trip. Lucy is my little slice of LSD when sober, haha.

I would definitely recommend Superior Life Energy crystals to anyone interested in crystals for a spiritual reason. LaQuan Williams is a master at making perfectly powerful Orgonite combinations that could cure any metaphysical imbalance or ailment you might have. Ohhhh and they are such beauts too. Now thats a win-win. 😉

Check out more of his magnificent pieces on Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr.

❤ Hello February ❤

hellofebAT

It’s February, whoo! AQUARIUS SEASON!!!!!!!!

Now I’m not excited because I’m an Aquarius or anything (proud Leo, baby, ALLLL DAY *rawr*). But I’m excited for a couple of other equally as important reasons.

  1. Triiin’s 21st birthday is this month (February 7th. Whoop, yes she IS an Aquarius!) Last year me & Caryn made some supreme awesomeness go down for Triiin’s bday (*cough, cough* strippers, surprise smokers party, etc.*cough, cough*. I wonder how we shall top ourselves this year??? Hmmm.
  2. I’m thankful to have made it to the 2nd month of 2014. Source has continued to grant me Divine awesomeness, favor, and grace.
  3. We are now, astrologically, in the age of Aquarius. Have been since the winter solstice of 2012 (yes the big hooplah the Mayans were REALLY talking about.) This age of Aquarius is supposed to be an exciting time for Earth on a spiritual and physical plane.  In this, still new, age of Aquarius I cant help but believe that Aquarius season would only amplify these effects and be a wonderful, progressive, and blessed time for all of us. I’m intrigued and excited to see what this month holds!
  4. It’s Black History Month. Though it burns my soul that black history is not simply a part of history and is only celebrated and mock-apprecited a mere one month out of the year, I take advantage of any moment set aside to celebrate my African roots (as a black woman) and promote the learning of more than just the history that is taught in schools. There is so much hidden truth out there. Hopefully people delve into the real origins of the black race and the truth of our history. Probably not, but a girl can dream right?
  5. Valentines Day is this month! Yayyyy! :). I know its cheesy in some ways, but hey whats wrong with an occasion committed to showing love?? Nothing! We need to show a little more love to each other so lets take every opportunity to do so, eh? Here’s what I say to do this Valentine’s day, especially if your feeling a little annoyed by the typical notions of the day of love. Lets make V-day this year truly about showing love to our fellow man. Show love to your significant other and all the normal jazz, lavish them with kind words, nice things and good treatment if you shall.  Nothing is wrong with that. But know that spreading love can be something as little as complimenting someone you wouldn’t normally, smiling at someone who looks upset, giving the homeless man on the corner a sandwich and some change. Whether you have a lover this V-day or not, there is always someone out there who needs love, YOUR love. Give it to them.

Are you excited for February like I am?

Happy New Year!! {Lessons, & Moving Forward}

Happy New Year Peeps!

2014, whoo!

HNY

I can’t believe its the first of the year. What can I say about 2013 before I like…officially let it go.

Well, I was having some personal reflection time a couple days ago looking for the summation, in a sense, of what 2013 was all about in my life. And my spirit came to the conclusion that 2013 was all about building and patience. It was a year of a lot of blessings, but a lot of testing as well.

For instance, the beginning of 2013 started with my mom in the hospital in a fight for her life. By new years she had come out of her induced coma but her condition was still critical. She could barely speak, she couldn’t walk. Don’t wanna drone on and on about the negative though. Ultimately, by mid-to-late Jan she was out of the hospital and though she had to learn to walk and talk again, she fully regained her health by late Feb, early March. She is fine, strong, and healthy now. Praises be! I feel like it was a testing of the faith and patience of my family, to wait on Source to restore her.

The entirety of the concept for Free Spiiirit came to be November 2012 and the line was slated to drop Jan 1st of 2013, but with all the things going on in my life with my mom  and family and such, we chose to change that deadline. I’m super close to my Mom, man, she is my rock and I am hers. So the whole situation was pretty hard on me….moving on, February 13th the line was dropped and the site was opened to the public. From then we hit the ground running with promo and fashion shows and did our best to make Free Spiiirit as great as we could from the small city of Huntsville, TX (where our school is located). We laid the foundations of the business and made it our mission to grind, grind, grind to build it up from there. Building blocks, stepping stones. We planned SxSW as a business trip to get the brand name out past the boundaries of our school grounds.

After SxSW in March, is when Triiin and I formulated the plan to move to California together in August. After networking with so many like-minded people during the festival, meeting Kendrick Lamar, and seeing how much we could build the business by simply being in the right place at the right time we knew Huntsville was too small a pond to remain in for much longer. At this time, began the building pressure of school and my growing disinterest with it, as well as a decline in monetary resources. By summer, the struggle had become all too real. I was taking school and working and hating every second of it and still only had enough money to survive. How were we ever supposed to save to move to Cali in these conditions? I didn’t know. To top it all off, the summer ended with an apartment fire days before move-out (–it was caused by a faulty dryer–) that destroyed some of our merchandise and made it twice as hard to pack and move out of the unit. It was August by now and the plans seemed to be foiled but we knew in our hearts Cali was still where we were supposed to be. “Patience, Patience” was the whisper…In good fashion, the Lord provided recourse and Triiin & I went to stay with my Mom in Houston.

Houston was its own beast. The Beckster (my car…Becky was her name) started giving me issues after moving there & soon pooped out altogether. Every expected avenue for Cali money was snatched from us by one instance or another. Then not to mention once you stop living with your parents, you never wanna re-live with your parents (and siblings) again. Lets not get into the endless reasons why. (Love them, they’re great n shit…but this is just TRUE, lol). We were doing our best not to get hog-tied down to the city of Houston and trying to keep in mind that Cali was still the mission regardless of what things look like. But imagine living everyday striving so hard for what you want, what you know you are supposed to do…and feeling no closer to your goal. Every day waking up with hope and going to bed with the nagging stab of disappointment. It gets really difficult. This was a true testing of patience and finding inner peace. But we just kept working on the business (Free Spiiirit) and keeping our mind, hearts, and energies set on the path laid out before us. God kept giving us signs that we were on path and after 2 months in this purgatory we were let into the gates of Heaven, so to speak…

October. Hello L.A., city of Angels! It was such a blessing to make it here and so surreal to be here. Everything, from the drive to finding a good apartment in record time. The whole situation was in God’s hands and he worked everything out just perfectly…as one must learn to always trust Source to do. And L.A. is so beautiful! My goodness. Getting here just made it continuously clear that this is where we were supposed to be all along. The endless possibilities began to expose themselves to us. But don’t think its been all candy, cupcakes, and roses since we’ve been out here. We have had our share of struggles too since being here…mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually, etc.  But when you become in tune with God…and self…and the God in oneself these outward things start to shake you less and less as you continually see Him see you through, dropping just what you need from the heavens like manna. Allhamdulilah!

This is the work in progress that had been begun in me at the start of last year and I truly feel like I have passed the test and completed this step. Why? Because I feel like I have learned the lessons I was supposed to from 2013. The lesson of patience and knowing that things do not happen in your timing, but in God’s timing. And the plan is perfect. Energy takes care of it all. You just have to be patient, stay positive, and stay connected. Also, the lesson that there is a time for everything under the sun. A time for sickness and a time for health. A time for grief and a time for joy. A time of struggle and a time of prosperity. A time of building and a time of reaping the benefits of your labors. 2013 was the year of Building and Patience for me. And I whole-heartedly believe that 2014 is the time of Prosperity and Reward. Not just monetary richness (though, that too) but also richness in love, mind, body, spirit. I’m ready for it!

How are you guys feeling about the new year? What was 2013 like for you? What do you expect from 2014?

Road to DTLA + Arrival & New Horizons

Hey guys n gals, It’s been a while. I’m sorry for my numerous hiatuses, GAHH, I know “bad blogger, bad” *hand thwacks*. But I have one crazy life man. Crazy, awesome though. And blessed. And there are so many new things I want to share with you guys. The biggest of which is…

*— I AM NOW LIVING IN D O W N T O W N L A !!!—*

Downtown…Los Angeles, California. I honestly can hardly believe it!

I have wanted to live here since at least the 6th grade. Never visited, no close family near, nothing. I just knew deep down in my soul that LA is where I belonged and I promised myself that after school, this is where I would end up living for at least some period of time. Now that desire is realized and it’s super awesome and surreal all at the same time. I can’t help but thank God.

The road here was a crazy one, literally, since we drove 24+ hours cross-country in a truck holding all of our belongings. But check out a couple of images I managed to snag along the way.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Seeing all the natural beauty as we passed through Texas, New Mexico, Some of Mexico (we passed Border Patrol twice..eek!), Arizona, and California, on the way to LA was majestic and eye-opening. In the grassland regions of Texas, like Houston, I’m not used to seeing such different types of terrain. Neither in my swampland hometown, N.O. But each state had its own awesome, physical beauty to offer, each different than the other. If only I could’ve captured the canyons in West Texas or the mountains made of impossibly stacked boulders in Arizona! The drive was a long daunting task, especially in a Penske truck, but definitely worth it.

Now its been about a month since we’ve been in LA (Triiin, and I) and we are just doing our best to get acclimated and cultivate Free Spiiirit so we can take the city by storm! We are almost done fully setting up the apartment and I will have pics of the finished product coming soon (Its starting to look so cool in here, I can’t wait to show you guys!). But yeah, things are different here. Mostly different, good, so we are just embracing it and rolling with the punches. 🙂

I will be back to blogging more now that I am finally (somewhat) settled. 😀

Also, I don’t know if I told you guys yet…(probably not, my bad)…but as of September 15th, the Free Spiiirit site is re-launched and back in action. If you love my style, check out our vintage finds and original designs at FreeSpiiirit.com !

If you are in the LA area and you are looking for styling services, personal shopper services, customization, or you want us in your next fashion show, contact us at freespiiirit3@gmail.com. Also, Free Spiiirit has expanded past just the clothing line to include a record label! (As well as promotions and photography services, :D). Check out our YouTube Channel! If you are interested in having one of our artist perform or becoming an artist send your inquiries to freespiiirit3@gmail.com, as well.

Peace & Blessings
