Body of a Goddess: Goddess Body Wellness

Greetings, Dear Spiiirits!

Those of you who follow me on my various social media know that I have been promising a review on the holistic products Triiin & I received from Goddess Body! Now the time has finally come for me to give you guys my full and honest assessment.

But first a little intro to Goddess Body…

Goddess Body Wellness is a brand of holistic health & beauty products created by Goddess Angela Elizabeth. Angela Elizabeth is a Master Herbalist, Holistic Health Practitioner, & Spiritual Advisor with a Masters of Science in Biology. Through her Goddess Body brand, she offers herbal teas & remedies, natural skin & haircare products, plant based nutrition and holistic health regimens.

True to her holistic roots, her products are all-natural, vegan products.

The Goddess Body products that were sent into our home by the lovely Angela Elizabeth were the CAS Toning Balm & the Yoni Oil.

CAS Toning Balm: The CAS Toning Balm is a blend that clears and smooths skin, targeting cellulite, fatty deposits. The CAS in name stands for Coffee, Aloe, & Shea. The topical caffeine from the coffee widens blood vessels, improving circulation and the removal of toxins, fluid, and fat. Aloe is renown for its amazing skin moisturizing, tightening, and regenerative properties. Vitamin A & E dense shea butter is a superb moisturizer with healing properties for skin and hair. So knowing that these are the 3 main ingredients, you already know that this concoction is primed for greatness…and it did not disappoint! The product is packaged into a glass container. You get a pretty sizable amount of product, especially when you take into account the consistency which is thick but spreads easily (and doesn’t take a lot of product to cover a pretty good amount of space). The balm smells delicious giving the wearer a light citrus scent. Due to all the natural oils, the balm is oily on your skin if over applied, so be careful (but like I said you don’t need too much). Immediately after application, my skin felt soft and supple and remained that way throughout the entire day. After no more than a week of using this product daily, I noticed an increased natural sheen and glow to my skin. This amplified natural sheen and glow remained even on days when I skipped using the product. Though I don’t have a ton of marks and blemishes, I did notice the marks I do have begin to substantially lighten to blend more and more with my skin. I absolutely love this balm!

Yoni Oil: Yoni is the Sanskrit word for Divine Passage, Vagina, Womb, Sacred Temple…you get the picture. It’s our blessed and sacred lady bits, Goddesses, and yoni oil is a prime holistic asset for keeping the precious vagina working to Goddess-standard. Yoni oil contains a combination of oils such as tea tree oil and neem oil as well as delicious herbs lemongrass and sage. These oils and herbs (as well as the numerous others present in the blend) combine to create the perfect potion for feminine yoni health. The oil has the capability to restore balance, acting as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal antidote. The combo also strengthens and tones the vaginal walls while encouraging healthy lubrication as well. It also can be used as a healthy natural lube, itself. With daily application, I observed a notable increase in the lubrication and strength of my own yoni since beginning to use this oil back in May. I feel that the increase in vaginal strength has caused my menstrual cycle to complete more quickly (since I can expel more at once). The oil, as well as healthy eating practices, has also decreased to the number of painful days in my cycle to one. Lastly it has a delicious lemongrass-y scent and can be effectively used on, not only your yoni, but your skin & hair as well. I haven’t actually tried the oil on my hair yet, but the anti-bacterial properties work wonderfully on skin (especially when a pimple surfaces up! It’ll get rid of that sucker in a flash). Triiin has pretty sensitive face skin when it comes to which products she can use and she swears by this oil for her face! This is definitely a new staple product in our lives.

These worked out so phenomenally, I can’t wait to try more Goddess Body products! I’d definitely recommend the CAS Toning Balm and the Yoni Oil to any woman ready to channel her inner Goddess! (Plus the holistic products are universally good for skin and hair, so men you can use them too!)

Photoshoot Phresh: Tribal Warrior Goddess Makeup

Hey, hey, hey guys n gals!

Today, Triiinity & I had a photoshoot with amazing photographer and our good friend , KwithyKat. It is our second photoshoot with Kwith (of many more to come!) and the continuation of the first concept we ever explored with her, uni-Goddess Ilati Masalu.

{Ilati Masalu: Goddess of Balance & Equality. Ying & Yang Fire & Ice Creation & Destruction There are two sides to this omnipotent Goddess. She manifest herself as two women who are themselves two sides of the same coin. Depicting her power over all Earth’s elements, she commands power over chaos & order, creation & destruction. She embodies the importance of perfect universal balance, knowing that everything has its perfect place and perfect time. Her symbol is Asar, or the all-seeing eye. Residing on the spiritual plane she uses her third eye, seeing in light & the color spectrum, to identify and rectify imbalances that reside in the physical world.}

The first shoot was this Goddess’s introduction. For the continuation of the Ilati Masalu’s story our intent was to depict the Goddess in different situations. This one…the Goddess in anticipation of warfare.

Here’s my half of the look.

tribal4 tribal3 tribal2 tribal1

These are quick snaps before we started shooting and the best shots I could capture really quickly. Once the pictures from the shoot are ready I will add another to this post where my eyelids are down & the makeup shows a bit better. (Plus it’ll be in HD…ooh la la, lol)

For the warrior-Goddess look we wanted to go a bit bolder with the tribal so we made black face paint, using a black crayon and coconut oil, to create these dots and lines.

On my brows I used a Wet n Wild brow pencil in Midnight Brown.

For lid shadows , I used the Coastal Scents 88 Palette. Chapstick served as a cheap primer alternative and I put a bright base coat of  2-shades-brighter-than-flesh-tone eyeshadow on top of it. This allowed the makeup look to be stable and well-pigmented.

The lid colors contain yellow, red, and two shades of orange from the palette.

I lined my eyes with black liquid liner and for mascara used both Wet n Wild Mega Protein Mascara & Wet n Wild Mega Length Mascara.

Lastly, my lipstick was a combination of some brown lip base Triiin had from a past makeup kit. A brown lip color from Black Radiance called “Copper low”, shade 5023B and a golden shade of lipstick called “24 Carat gold.”

Can’t wait for the finished products of this shoot!

Check out more of KwithyKat’s work, in the meantime. 🙂

Do you guys like my tribal warrior makeup look? Have you done tribal makeup before? How was it similar or different to this look? I love hearing from you guys, soooo let me know!

Woman Crush Wednesday: Rihanna Bares it All

Hola, Spiiirits!

At the CFDA Fashion Awards on June 2nd, Rihanna bared it all in a completely sheer crystal-net floor length gown that was custom made by designer Adam Selman. Well “bared it all” may be a little too forward…she did have a flesh tone thong on that beautiful bod. Talk about shining bright like a diamond, Rih!

rihftnblog1

rihftnblog2

Rih paid homage to the Josephine Baker era in this floor length frock, which hosted 230, 000 Swarovski crystals.

Now of course Rih’s bold, nude (or at least mostly nude) expression, has brought much backlash. (Instagram even, to my knowledge, removed her page because of it, TUH!) However, I am here to say that I am in support of this fashion choice!

First of all, Rihanna looks beautiful and her body is to D-I-E for in this dress. Second, why is it that women have to be ashamed of their bodies? These bodies (male or female) are blessings from Source, so why is it we cannot honor them as such? Rihanna is a young woman in her prime finding strength in her femininity, versus the shame that is so readily taught, and I applaud her for that. (BTW this is not the first time Rih has worn something sheer in public that exposes her breasts nor that she’s been photographed topless. So I don’t understand why this time is SO much more of a big deal than the others).

Also, I am a believer in the #freethenipple movement. It is simply the gender roles set by a patriarchal society that allow for a man to freely be topless, nipple exposed, but shame a woman for the thought of the same thing. Even though the chest scientifically contains the same visible make up. While I love clothing, I just don’t think nudity should be so frowned upon. It is after all, our original form. We are taught to be ashamed of and hide our root physical form and then we wonder why we find it hard to love ourselves.

Remember, God made the naked form. Man, made clothing. That’s all I’m saying…

BUT…I’m really curious to know you guys’ opinion on Rih’s outfit and public displays of nudity as a whole. Do you agree with Rih’s #freethenipple approach or do you think she should have covered up for the awards?

Let me know!

Trendspotting Tuesdays: Mermaid Mane

mermaidhairblogAT

As the warmer seasons of the year kick into full swing, fashion begins to reflect the seasonal shift in the myriad of colors that make themselves visible in trends & style.

Now as we have already noticed, neon-pastels (seems like an oxymoron, but oddly enough it’s not..lol) have made a heavy appearance in the Spring/Summer 2014 trendscape. This color trend has permeated everything, from nail polish, to accessories, to lipstick you name it. Hair, is no exception. This new obsession with neon-pastels has brought on a the mass desire for mermaid hair!

No matter what race, color, or creed, hair texture, or style, many are dying their hair beautiful bright pastel colors like coral, seafoam green, teal, and lavender.

mermaidhair6 mermaidhair5 mermaidhair3 mermaidhair2 mermaidhair13  mermaidhair12mermaidhair14 mermaidhair11 mermaidhair9Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset  mermaidhair8 mermaidhair7mermaidhair10mermaidhair16

Some opt for ombre, doing darkest shade to lightest shade (roots to end). Others distinctly highlight their strands a brilliant trifecta of neon-pastel shades. And some opt for all over, one color, neon-pastel strands. No matter the method, the result is quite vibrant & very reminiscent of the our images of sexy mer-people. And I love it!

I don’t have the balls to dye my entire head of hair (for the hair health issues color poses), but I do plan to dye Delilah (my loc) purple on the tip one of these days. Does that count…?? Haha.

What do you guys think of the trend? Would you die your hair in this mermaid fashion?

Let me know!

Until Next Time…

Trendspotting: Neon Lipstick + A Little Insight

Hello beautiful, Spiiirits.

How are you guys doing today??

I’ve seen better ones myself. It’s a lot of fake people that I’m finding myself having to exterminate out of my life. Its an exhausting process and quite unnerving (especially when “friends” turn to enemies after you put your foot down and demand they stop incessantly using you). Seems leeches and life-force suckers get quite angry when you try to hold them accountable. There’s a good couple of people I can apply that too, right now, sadly. But in such testing times, those who truly care become apparent as well, and I am thankful for those lights in the darkness. This process is all for the growth and betterment of myself and those around me and I appreciate it for the blessing that it is.

Welp, that was just a little insight into my life at the moment. Moving on from that…

Spring is in FULLLLLL swing and with it’s presence has come a couple sassy trends for the fashion savvy.

One of those hot, hot, hot trends is NEON LIPSTICK!

…Pinks, Oranges, Greens, Yellow, Blues…

neon…Neon…NEON!

Check out a couple of celebs rocking the trend.

Trendspotting Tuesdays: Orange Lipstick + Finding Your Shade

Orange lipstick is hot, Hot, HOT for the summer.

Check out a couple of celebs that have taken to rocking the trendy color…

Now orange is a color that can easily look tacky and loud if done incorrectly. However, it can look great on any skin tone, if you pick the right shade for you.

A Couple Tips on Finding the Correct Shade

Light Skin: Choose a very true-to-orange shade, it’ll pop against your bright skin
Medium Skin: Choose an orange with golden undertones, it’ll accentuate your skin and give it warmth without bronzer
Dark Skin: Choose darker oranges with more brown to brick undertones, it will be less harsh on your tone while giving you the poppy look you desire

For all shades: Always opt for liner whenever possible, its the secret to long-lasting and defined lips in any lipshade. (You can buy a beauty supply lipstick and make it look like a million bucks with liner, Trust Me.) Also if you can’t find your exact shade in the stores, don’t be afraid to mix colors and liners until you do!

The right orange lip gives you a fun look and a warm summer glow. And with these tips & tricks in your arsenal there is no need to fear getting it wrong. Go forth & get funky in orange!
